Margaret Barrett joined the Credit Union movement in 1972. She was secretary to the Executive Officer, Dermot Ryan, AFCUL and Assistant Secretary, Australian Credit Union Historical Cooperative Ltd. She was awarded a Master of Education degree at Sydney University in 1990 and was a member of the City Council Employees’ Credit Union, later called Sydney Credit Union.

Margaret Barrett provided an oral history interview for the credit union movement in 1989 when she was interviewed by Richard Raxworthy.
